The novel Persepolis is written by Marjane Satrapi in 2003, 2004, 2005.

It is an autobiography of Marjane's life in her childhood and her early adult years. 

The story is takes place during the late 1970's. The armed confilct between Iran and Iraq took place from the 22nd of September 1980 to August 1988. It was a dark time for many Iranians as well as Iraqis. Marjane gives us an autobiography of her experiences those years.
